An Alley of Oak Trees

If you look at the end of this magnificent row of Oak Trees, you’ll see the grand American Queen. One of the perks of being on a paddle wheel with a stage is that you can pretty much tie up anywhere along the river…as long as there is a tree or “dead man” to tie up to!
Oak Alley plantation is one of our planned stops along the river, this classic Greek revival style antebellum home is lined a quarter mile with oak trees believed to be close to 300 years old! They are known for their mint julips too, complete with a piece of pecan pie and a spot under one of the trees makes for a wonderful afternoon along the river!
