Fueling up!

Just like a road trip, you stop at the gas station – you top off the gas tank, check the air in your tires and purchase your favorite munchies – our ship is preparing for 5 days at sea.  So when I woke up and heard a loud banging noise, it was obvious that we must be ‘bunkering’ and that’s exactly what this small barge was doing – providing the fuel we would need to carry us all the way from Safaga, Egypt to Dubai, UAE.  I normally would have gotten off the ship to stock up on my favorite snacks – but this particular area didn’t really provide much.  We were here as a gateway to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, not to see Safaga per say, as there wasn’t anything to do or anywhere to go unless you were going snorkeling or diving in the Red Sea, or maybe to one of the few resorts where you pay for a beach chair for the afternoon.  So, I elected to stay on board.  I figured: I survived 9 days at sea in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean without going crazy, so 5 will be a piece of cake!
